Tarantara Productions is an exciting new professional company established in 2014 to perform the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan to the highest standards.
At its inaugural performance, Tarantara Productions performed a concert of G&S highlights at Chichester Festival Theatre, with a full orchestra of 26 conducted by Martin Handley and featuring some of the Country’s finest Savoyards, including Rebeccca Bottone, Frances McCafferty, and Barry Clark.
In January and February of 2016 Tarantara Productions toured their semi-staged productions of HMS Pinafore and Iolanthe to Guildford, Chichester, High Wycombe and Buxton with the above forces plus a well-drilled chorus of 12. The performances were received very well and put the company firmly on the map.
Tarantara Productions has been formed to put on the full range of G & S operettas both in concert performances and also in fully staged productions. It also aims to promote and build an audience for the future for its core repertoire through parallel education projects; it is not just about captivating existing fans.
Tarantara’s performances reject the outdated stylised conventions of the past but without embracing those modern ‘updatings’ of this glorious repertoire which, in attempting to reinvent the genre, do not do justice to the essence of what are a set of core works within the English speaking music theatre repertoire.

"This evening I took my family to your HMS Pinafore production at Chichester. It was my childrens' first exposure to G&S on stage. They are 15, 13 and 10. They loved it. We all loved it. Thank you!" Ben Cheesman
"Saw your production of HMS Pinafore at Buxton this afternoon. It was brilliant. The performers were superb and the orchestra excellent. The absence of a set only increased the focus on the wonderful music and acting.
We would go out of our way to see future productions by Tarantara." Mr and Mrs G H Beardshall
